Cutting Tool User Guide for Bars, Tubes, Angles and other profiles (See Further down page for Sheet / Plate)

Each of our Aluminium, Brass, Stainless Steel and Plastic profiles are offered in a range of handy lengths (Usually in 100mm increments) which can be selected from the drop down menu on each product page.

What if I require more precise cut lengths?

No problem! This is where our integrated cutting tool comes in.

How do I get my item cut to a bespoke length(s)?

  1.   Select the profile that you require (i.e 25mm dia. Aluminium Round Bar)
  2.   From the drop down menu, select the length that best suits your total material requirement (i.e 2000mm)
  3.   If you are happy to purchase the length that you have selected with no further   cutting required, then         simply click the button “BUY SELECTED LENGTH – NO  CUTS”
  4.   If you require the selected length cut to yield 1 or more pieces of specific lengths then click the button “BUY NOW – WITH CUTS”. This will open up the cutting tool.
  5.   A reminder of your selected starting length is displayed at the top.
  6.   Type in the cut length that you require in millimetres, followed by the quantity of pieces that you require at this cut length.
  7.   Once you have entered the quantity, to the right hand side the total amount of material requested will be displayed.
  8.   The next section to the right displays the “Cut Waste” or “Kerf”.  The kerf is the width of the sawblade. This width (usually 5mm) corresponds directly with the width of the slot that the sawblade will cut into the material. This material turns to swarf and therefore is lost from any remaining off cut.  For example if 1 cut is requested then 5mm of material is lost. If 10 cuts are requested, a total of 50mm of material is lost.
  9.   The box below displays the length of the remaining material / off cut.
  10.   Should you require further pieces cut from the remaining length, click the “ADD ANOTHER CUT” button, and repeat the above process.
  11.   Once you have finished adding in all required cut sizes, scroll down the page where you then have the option to have any available off cut recycled by us, or to have it sent with your order.
  12.   Once you are happy with your selection, click “BUY NOW WITH CUTS” to add your cut pieces to basket.

Cutting Tool User Guide for Sheet & Plate products.

Each of our Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Polycarbonate sheets and plates are offered in a range of handy sizes which can be selected from the drop down menu on each product page.

What if I require more precise cut pieces?

No problem! This is where our integrated cutting tool comes in.

How do I get Sheet or Plate cut to bespoke sizes?

  1.   Visit the required product page (e.g 2mm Aluminium Sheet)
  2.   From the dropdown menu, select a sheet size that is nearest to your required sizes. (e.g 1000mm x 500mm)
  3.   If you are happy to purchase the size that you have selected with no further cutting required, then simply click the button “BUY SELECTED LENGTH – NO  CUTS”
  4.   If you require the selected sheet cut to yield 1 or more pieces of specific sizes then click the button “BUY NOW – WITH CUTS”. This will open up the cutting tool.
  5.   The first box that opens up is a Visual Representation of your starting selected sheet size (e.g 1000mm x 500mm).
  6.   Below this are boxes where you can type in your first required Length and Width dimensions in Millimetres.
  7.   To the right hand size of the Length & Width boxes, the ‘Cut Waste’ or ‘Kerf’ value will be displayed. Sheets that are up to and including 6mm thick, the Kerf value is Zero, as these products are guillotined to size. Sheets and plates that are over 8mm thick are Sawn and therefore a 5mm Kerf is applicable.
  8.   Once you have typed in your required dimensions, this area will be greyed out on the Visual Representation displayed above. This will help you to see how various bespoke sizes can be achieved from your starting sheet size.
  9.   If you would like further bespoke pieces cut from your starting sheet, click the “ADD CUT” button. This will open up a new line where you can enter another bespoke cut size. Each time you add in a new cut size, the area requested will become greyed out on the Visual Representation.
  10.   Once you have finished entering all required cut sizes, scroll down the page where you then have the option to have any available offcuts recycled by us, or to have them sent with your order.
  11.   Once you are happy with your selection, click “BUY NOW WITH CUTS” to add your cut pieces to basket.

Cutting Tool – Terms & Conditions

  1.   Items that have been cut to bespoke dimensions are not eligible for return. Therefore it is important that you double check your measurements before ordering. Should you have any queries with sizing, please contact us prior to purchase – we’re happy to help!
  2.   As standard we offer a cutting tolerance of +/-2mm, however in the vast majority of cases +/-1mm or closer is achieved. Should you require a specific tolerance on your cut pieces, for example a tighter tolerance or a +Only tolerance, then please either contact us prior to purchase or add a note onto your order (at checkout) and our team will be sure to do their best to meet your requirements.
  3.   Off Cuts – Profiles and Lengths. Our cutting tool will keep you informed of any remaining material / off-cut as you add in your required cut sizes. Please be aware that this figure is to be used as guide and the actual available off cut size may differ to the size displayed. This can be due to a variety of reasons – for example the actual Kerf will vary across our saws – this will give a variation on the actual remaining off cut. Regardless of the buyers selection, it is not always possible to send smaller off cuts – especially those that are shorter than10mm. This is due to safety issues arising from being able to adequately clamp the piece for cutting and therefore will be sent at the saw operators discretion.
  4.   Off Cuts – Sheets & Plates
The Visual representation is designed to aid the buyer with deciding how various cut sizes can be achieved from the original selected sheet size. This is to be used as a guide only, and the Guillotine / Saw Operator may place the actual cuts differently. This may also effect the sizes of any off cuts, if they are requested.
Regardless of the buyers selection, it is not always possible to send smaller offcuts – especially those that are narrower then 10mm. In these instances offcuts will be sent at the operators discretion.
